Financial Aid for Young Scientists

Organizers of the DIMAT 2004 - the 6th International Conference on Diffusion in Materials received financial support from the European Commission in the frame of the Specific Programme: "Structuring the European Research Area"; Activity: Human Resources and Mobility (HRM) Activities, Marie Curie Conferences & Training Courses SCF/LCF Contract No MLCF-CT-2003-503736.
The Contract enables to cover travel expenses, Conference fees and living expenses of 50 young researchers.

Eligible persons
The financial support is dedicated to young scientists (40% selection of women should be ensured) from all the countries, who satisfy the following conditions:

1. They do not have doctoral degree and at the time of their attendance at DIMAT2004 they have no more than 4 years (full-time equivalent) research experience after obtaining the diploma which gives them direct access to doctoral studies in the country in which the diploma was obtained.
This group of participants has absolute priority for funding.

2. They have, at the time of their attendance at DIMAT2004, a doctoral degree or a (full-time equivalent) research experience of 4-10 years after obtaining the diploma which gives them direct access to doctoral studies in the country in which the diploma was obtained. Researchers with more than 10 years of research experience are not eligible for support.

Request submission
Those who wish to apply for the financial support should deliver the following documents:

- abstract of the paper they are going to present during the Conference prepared according to DIMAT 2004 instructions,
- letter of support from the supervisor,
- short CV with clearly indicated data of gaining a university degree giving access to doctoral studies and (if applicable) the date of obtaining PhD degree,
- declaration on the preferred style of presentation: oral or poster.

Evaluation procedure
All the applications will be carefully assessed by a special panel of members of the Advisory Board and Organizing Committee. Some papers will be chosen to be presented during special oral session for young scientists (others are supposed to be posters).
During the Conference a special commission will review the posters presented by young scientists and three Posters will be awarded together with a special certificate. A special young scientist session will also be held on 21st July.
