The conference will be held in July 2004, in Krakow, Poland, in the buildings of the AGH University of Science and Technology situated very near the centre of the town. Krakow, in the heart of Central Europe, is the ancient capital of Poland and is a world renowned centre of culture, arts and sciences. It was designated one of the European Cities of Culture for the year of the Millennium and it integrates the traditional aspects of Polish life with a modern, and forward looking approach to international collaboration and development. The beauty of the old city of Krakow makes the city rightly regarded as one of the jewels of European architecture. From the Royal Castle on the Wawel Hill overlooking the River Wisla, along the Royal Route; through the Rynek Glowny (Main Market); the largest market square in Europe, with its magnificent Sukiennice (Cloth Hall); past Mariacki Church to the Barbican never ceases to provide a wonderful spectacle. Likewise the Collegium Maius of the Jagiellonian University and the building of the first Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, together with the huge number of beautiful churches and interesting museums guarantees that Krakow will always provide something to interest the casual visitor or the dedicated student.
